À consideração do Primeiro-Ministro "The Dutch government will no longer hire journalists, who are working in general or parliamentary journalism, to give media training, lead meetings and write texts, starting 1 January 2005. Vice primeminister Gerrit Zalm said: "This is the government's contribution to maintaining independent media. The cabinet feels that the government should not go along with a situation that can apparently cause public doubt about independently-operating journalism". Despite this, parliamentary journalists remain welcome "for one-off contributions to forums and the like without being paid," the cabinet stated. The decision has been taken in the aftermath of a recent major discussion about side jobs of Dutch journalists". (Fonte: http://www.nisnews.nl/ , via European Journalism Centre)
