Que lições tirar da cobertura televisiva da guerra no Iraque? Sendo ainda cedo para proceder a tal balanço, começam a surgir ensaios nesse sentido. É o caso do texto "The Television War", que na edição deste mês da American Journalism Review, publica Jacqueline E. Sharkey, directora do Departamento de Jornalismo da Universidade do Arizona (EUA). Uma breve citação: "(...) The ascendance of Fox indicates that "portraying events of the war in a patriotic fashion was drawing in more viewers than a just-the-facts approach," he (Matthew Felling of the Center for Media and Public Affairs) says. This has enormous implications for television journalism, he and other media analysts say. (...) Colón (Aly Colón, do Poynter Institute) says this development may indicate "a possible shift in how journalism may begin to emerge in this new century." He thinks the media could revert to the way journalism was practiced in an earlier time, when news outlets presented information in ways that reflected specific political viewpoints and agendas (...)"..
