Excertos:
"There is no denying that this race is mainly about Mr. Bush's disastrous tenure. (...) over the last year we have come to know Mr. Kerry as more than just an alternative to the status quo. We like what we've seen. He has qualities that could be the basis for a great chief executive, not just a modest improvement on the incumbent."Na mesma edição, o provedor do leitor, Daniel Okrent, prossegue a reflexão sobre "Political Bias at The Times", dando a palavra a dois críticos do jornal: Todd Gitlin, professor da Columbia University, que faz uma crítica pela esquerda, e Bob Kohn, um advogrado californiano, que considera o NY sistematicamente enviesado em desfavor de Bush. Actualização (18.12): Editorial do Chicago Tribune: George W. Bush for president:
"For three years, Bush has kept Americans, and their government, focused--effectively--on this nation's security. The experience, dating from Sept. 11, 2001, has readied him for the next four years, a period that could prove as pivotal in this nation's history as were the four years of World War II".
